DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to all of our volunteers that help in so many ways. Please remember that anyone who works with or encounters children and older adults through your ministry are required to maintain the following documentation per the Archdiocese: Background Check - every 3 years and OVASE training (Office of Victim Assistance and Safe Environment) – every 3 years. This applies to (but not limited to) the following ministries: Catechists, Homebound Ministers, St. Vincent de Paul, Altar Society, Knights of Columbus and Teen A.C.T.S. If you are not sure of your status with this training, we can verify it quickly! Call the office at 830-460-4712 to verify.
OVASE Training is held on an as needed basis. All are welcome to follow the below steps to complete your OVASE training online.
OVASE Training
The Archdiocese Office of Victim Assistance/Safe Environment (OVASE) requires training every three years for anyone who may interact with minors or the elderly as part of their work with the parish. To register and take this training on line, please follow these steps:
The Archdiocese Office of Victim Assistance/Safe Environment (OVASE) requires training every three years for anyone who may interact with minors or the elderly as part of their work with the parish. To register and take this training on line, please follow these steps:
- Go to www.virtusonline.org
- Click on “First Time Registrant”.
- Click on “Begin the Registration Process”.
- Select Your Organization: Type in (or scroll down to) “San Antonio, TX (Archdiocese).
- Create User ID: Create your user ID (write this down to keep).
- Create Password: Create your password (write this down to keep)
- Complete the remaining required information indicated with a red asterisk (*) for registration.
- Click on “Submit”.
- Primary Location: Type in (or scroll down to) “St. Stanislaus (Bandera).
- Click on “Continue”.
- Do You work or volunteer in another location? Click on “NO” (unless you do)
- Check “Volunteer” and type what position you are volunteering for where it asks for the title. (Examples: Catechist, St. Vincent DePaul, Homebound, TACTS…Etc).
- Answer the remaining questions.
- Already attended? Click “No”
- Select session: Find the one titled “Protecting God’s Children for Adults (online training)”. The online option is the next to last option on the list.
- Click on “Complete Registration”.
- You may now log in and complete the online training.
